Dear Birthparents
Thank you for allowing us the time to introduce ourselves to you at this difficult time in your life. I am Cecil, my wife’s name is Terry, and we have a four-year-old son named Hunter. After many years of trying to have children, we were finally successful after using a very difficult procedure called in vitro fertilization. We have always wanted two children, but with the risks of attempting in vitro being very high, we decided to pursue adoption to complete our family.
We are older parents, which I believe is a great benefit. We are much more patient than we would have been at a younger age. I grew up in a home with no father and a mother that worked nights. Because of this, there was not a lot of family time. I am very committed to this not happening with our children. Being more mature, we are more financially and emotionally able to give the time and energy to our children and really be a part of their lives in every aspect.
Terry is a stay at home mom who spends time doing art projects and playing with our four-year-old. She is a very loving mother who enjoys their time together very much. She is a natural teacher. She involves Hunter in all aspects of her day with patience and caring, allowing him to learn and really be a part of everything. Terry is just as committed as I am to wanting a second child.
I have owned my own business for many years, which allows me the time to take off to spend with my family whenever wanted or needed. To have some quality time with my son, I come home early from work at least one afternoon a week to take him to swim class or tumbling class. I love spending time with him, playing, reading a book or listening to him tell me about his day. I would want to spend the same quality time with the child we adopt.
Hunter is a very normal, active four-year-old. He is an affectionate and caring little boy who loves tractors, jeeps and stuffed animals. He also loves books and we read to him every night. Hunter really likes the idea of having a sister or brother. He plays with his “babies” all the time pushing them in his stroller, feeding them and taking care of them. He will make a great big brother.
We all like spending time together and have a big extended family who just loves children. Most of the family lives very close and we see them several times a week. Others live further away, but we make sure that we see them as often as possible. Everyone is excited about adding another child to the family. There is plenty of love in all of our hearts for another child.
We cannot begin to understand what you are going through at this time; we strongly respect and admire your courage and love. If you feel we are a good match for you, we will always be grateful that you helped make our dreams come true. You can rest easy knowing that any child in our care will grow up in a loving, affection, secure and nurturing home.
