Family Sketch

We're a married couple in our 20s, and we'd like to welcome a baby to
our little family. We both grew up in the Southeast and often travel
there to visit our families. We get lots of visits from family in the
summer between our visits home. Everyone is really excited about our
adoption plans (especially us). Our parents, grandparents, sisters,
cousins, aunts, and uncles cannot wait to spend time with a little
one!

We met in 2001 in a very romantic physics class, and married in 2005
after Angela finished engineering school. Davis loves to tell the
story of exactly how we met:

The first day of class, in January, we happened to sit next to each
other (in the front row, of course). I had arrived first (which is
rare), and had already fallen for her by the time she was seated. She
(whatever her name was) put a Coke on her desk and turned away to look
through her bag for her notebooks. Playfully, as the very first thing
I ever said to her, I asked, "Can I have your Coke?" She wasn't
prepared for the question, presumably because no complete stranger had
ever asked her for her drink before. Without a word, without even
looking up out of her bag, she reached behind herself and held out the
Coke! Now I wasn't prepared: strangers weren't supposed to surrender
their drinks any more than they were supposed to ask for yours. I
stared for a moment, and finally managed to say, "I was kidding -- I
wasn't really asking for your drink!" Finally, she looked around,
then slowly put the drink back down on her desk. A month later, we
saw "Into the Woods" together on our first date.

We both work as scientists, with Davis' job being research for his
Ph.D. in physics. At home we have two cats: a tiny princess named
Zoe, and Loki, who looks more like a bobcat. We both like to have
fun, and spend a lot of time together traveling, camping, and
snowboarding. Angela also plays French horn and volunteers at the
YMCA climbing wall, and Davis likes to play ultimate frisbee in the
summertime and practices French when he can.

Birthmother/Birthfather Letter

Hello,

We're Angela and Davis. Thank you for considering adoption at this
time. You are making a difficult but loving choice, and our prayers
are with you. Let us tell you a little bit about ourselves.

We are a young, fun-loving Christian couple who stay busy with many
activities. We love to snowboard, hike, and camp together. Angela
likes to rock climb, and Davis likes to play ultimate Frisbee. We
love children, and we are very involved in volunteering with our
church's youth group. In fact, we're considered honorary members!

We met in undergraduate school and married after Angela finished her
master's degree. Angela now works as an aerospace engineer doing
computer programming, and Davis plans to finish his Ph.D. in
computational physics by 2010. Working on a Ph.D. is a lot like
having a job, which is pretty neat because Davis gets paid to go to
school.

We've been hoping to start a family for a while now. We decided to
adopt to ensure that we'd have children while we were young enough to
run and play with them. We feel we're fully ready to parent a new
baby, and we can't wait!

While Angela currently works full time, she is hoping to cut back her
hours or possibly stay at home completely when our new baby arrives.
We both think it is very important to raise our child in a loving,
Christian home, and we both plan to be fully present and active in our
children's lives, whether we work or stay at home.

Our family and friends (including the great-grandparents-to-be!) are
excited to help us welcome a little one. We moved away from our
families to New Mexico for work, but we visit often and have made
friends here who are like family. We have Thanksgiving, Easter, and
Halloween with our friends every year.

We truly admire your courage in choosing an adoption at this trying
time in your life, and we wish you the best now and in the future.
Thank you for taking time to read this and for considering us as a
family for your child.
