Family Sketch
Thank you for visiting our site! Our names are Doyle and Terri and we have been happily married for 20 years now. We both work in a hospital, which is where we met almost 25 years ago! Terri is a nurse and cares for children who are very ill; Doyle is an administrator who supports the nurses and doctors throughout the hospital and enjoys helping them solve problems.
Terri was raised in rural New Mexico and grew up riding horses, playing in the mountains and taking care of the animals on her parent’s small farm. She is the third daughter in a family of four sisters. She loves getting together with her sisters and Dad for family visits. She is a fantastic cook and loves to bake, as well as stir up giant meals for family and friends. Terri has always loved kids. She worked in a day care center while attending nursing school and has devoted her nursing career to taking care of sick little-ones. She has a very big heart and is very good at comforting her patients and their families. Mom’s often tell her “I’m so glad you are my child’s nurse, I know you will care for them like they were your own.”
Doyle was raised in Texas and moved to New Mexico after college. He too was raised in a rural setting with lot of animals. He grew up riding tractors, chasing cows and helping his grandfather take care of the ranch. Doyle enjoys photography, gardening, hiking and exploring, but his favorite hobby is eating Terri’s fantastic food. He is the oldest son in a family of two boys; his family still lives in Texas so he goes to visit or they come to New Mexico a few times each year. Even with the distance, Doyle keeps in touch with his Mom over the phone weekly. Like Terri, Doyle loves kids. He has worked with kids in Church for many years, leading youth groups and teaching Sunday school. People often tell him, “you would make a great Dad.”
Since we were both raised in rural settings, it only seems right to live in one now. We live on six beautiful acres filled with trees, grass, fresh air and lots of space for kids to play. Together, we love traveling and have been to many places throughout the U.S. We love to take short weekend trips driving around the region trying hiking trails and restaurants along the way. We also love to explore big cities (especially those with beaches), and experiencing new cultures and people from coast to coast. We also spend a lot of time at Church, which is a very important part of our life. We attend a Christian service regularly and are involved with music, youth and leading worship.
Our family also includes two very hairy girls (girl cats, that is) – Hazel and Latte are our 11-year-old cat-daughters who love to look out the window, watch birds and chase bugs. They are very people oriented and love to sit on laps and nap. They don’t say much, but do cry when they get hungry.
Birthmother/Birthfather Letter
Although we have tried for a long time to have children, we have not been successful. After a great deal of prayer and soul-searching, we decided not to pursue medical treatment in order to get pregnant because we knew there were children in the community that need loving parents and a good home. We are looking forward to the opportunity to raise as many children as God sees fit to send our way.
It must be very difficult to pick a family for your child. We can’t even imagine what you must be going through. Our prayers are that God guides you during this time and leads you to the right couple no matter who that may be.
One of our favorite Bible verses comes from the Book of Corinthians, it says:
“Three things will last forever - faith, hope, and love - and the greatest of these is love.
We have faith that God will help you make the right decision during this difficult time. We are hopeful that soon our house will be filled with the laughter and cries of a little one who we will love, and care for with our whole hearts.
Adoption is such a special gift, a gift to your child and a gift to those who will spend a lifetime loving and caring for them - not only the adoptive Mom and Dad, but grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, neighbors and everyone in-between. Whatever your circumstance, we respect your decision and want the very best for you and your child.
God Bless;
Doyle & Terri
