Family Sketch

         We have been married for almost 11 years. Mike was actually my first date when I was fifteen, and he was seventeen! I was a tomboy at the time of our first date, and Mike was heading off to college…and we all know, timing is everything in relationships! Fourteen years later, we were set up on our second date, and we have been inseparable ever since.

Mike is my best friend. He is my soul mate. He is such a great person, a wonderful husband, and an amazing father. He is kind, loving, thoughtful, generous, and passionate about everything he does. He is such a hard worker, which is why I always knew he would be a good dad. But, I would have never imagined the patience, compassion, and love he shows to our daughter. It melts my heart every time I see them dancing and playing together. He is athletic, and he likes football, running, reading, coaching, traveling, and learning about history and science.

Denise is a beautiful wife. She has a good heart and a good soul. She is always thoughtful of others, caring, and hard working. She is a wonderful mother. She is so caring, loving, and attentive to our daughter. Kaiden was the answer to her prayer of being a mother, and she is my wife’s little angel. Besides spending time with Kaiden, she likes to spend time with friends and family, travel, work in the yard, and learn about forensics (CSI) and biology. She is athletic as well, and her favorite sports are fast pitch softball, volleyball, and soccer.

We adopted our daughter Kaiden through AAA in 2007. We just adore her! As her daddy says, “I never knew how much I could love someone until Kaiden came into our lives.” She has been one of the greatest blessings we have ever received. She has changed our lives so much with the love, joy, laughter, and occasionally chaos and work that comes with parenting. She has an easy-going personality and contagious smile. She loves to play outside on her swing, in the sand, with the rocks and leaves, and searching for bugs. She is a good little traveler, she especially likes going to the ‘hotel’ and riding in airplanes. She likes going to the zoo, reading, coloring, and building with blocks. She loves to play with other children, and we feel she would be a wonderful big sister.

We spend a lot of time together as a family, we like going to the movies, attending sporting events, working in the yard, traveling, and attempting home improvement projects. (Kaiden loves going to Home Depot.) Our favorite things are spending time with friends and family celebrating the holidays, life events, and birthdays. We like playing in the backyard, or just hanging out around the house too.

As for our careers, we are both teachers. Mike teaches physical education at an elementary school, and he coaches football and track. I teach biology and human anatomy at the high school. We both chose teaching and coaching because we enjoy being around the students, helping them learn and grow as a person. We also believe teaching is an ideal career for raising a family. We have found that the summer vacations, holidays, and the work schedule have worked very well with parenthood.

Our friends and family are excited about us becoming parents again, and their support for us has been amazing. Because of our friends, family, and community, we feel a child of Hispanic, Caucasian, or both ethnic backgrounds, would feel loved and accepted within our family.

Dear Birthmother/Birthfather,

               There are no words to express the admiration we have for you, the person who is making a courageous decision to plan out your child’s future through an adoption plan. We know it takes an enormous amount of strength, courage, and selflessness to make this difficult decision. We have a deep respect for you, because to us, your selfless act of love is a miracle. It’s a miracle of fulfilling our dream of having a family.
               We discovered we were unable to have children after several years of fertility treatments. Through prayer and guidance, the journey to begin our family brought us to Adoption Assistance Agency. Almost three years ago, an amazing woman, just like you, blessed us with our daughter Kaiden. All the joy, happiness, and occasional chaos of parenthood have been everything we expected and more. We both love being parents, and we hope through our letter and photos you will get a sense of the love we have for each other, and the love we dream to share with another child.
               We have been married for almost eleven years, and we both feel our marriage was the answer to our prayers of finding our soul mate. We both dreamed of the day we would become parents, and we planned to pass on to our children the same morals and values we shared. We were both blessed to be raised in loving, supportive Christian homes with wonderful parents. They encouraged family values, education, respect for others, and faith in God. The support we have received from our family and friends, and our faith in God, has shown us this is where we are supposed to be to fulfill our dream of having a family. We are both so excited for the opportunity to be parents again! Adopting Kaiden changed our lives, and we would love to have the opportunity to share our family with another child. There are no words that could ever express our gratitude for your beautiful gift of parenthood. Just a promise of a place in our hearts we will forever hold dear.
